BWF Awarded a $10K Grant by Petfinder Foundation for the 20th Anniversary Grant

Bunny World Foundation is deeply honored to be one of the 24 recipients of the Petfinder Foundation 20th Anniversary Grant. The awarded funds will be used to assist 300 bunnies rescued from high kill shelters in Los Angeles City/County during the Winter of 2016-2017. The project, made possible by the Petfinder Foundation will help us continue our mission and tackle upcoming medical challenges related to the rabbits we rescued. 

Over the past 20 years, Petfinder has harnessed the power of the internet to help facilitate more than 25 million pet adoptions through its extensive network of more than 13,000 shelter and rescue organizations. At any given time, there are more than 250,000 adoptable pets featured on Petfinder.

Petfinder was founded in 1996 by Betsy Banks Saul and Jared Saul, who started a website to help save lives of adoptable pets by connecting people to various animal shelters across New Jersey.

WELCOME TO BWF 10-DAY ONLINE WINTER 2016 AUCTION!

The online auction begins on FRIDAY 12/09/16 at 10:00 PM (PST) and ends on MONDAY 12/19/2016 at 10:00 AM (PST). We have many lovely items up for auction and 100% of the funds raised will go directly to the care of BWF bunnies. All of our auction items are PERFECT to give as Holiday gifts, or to add to your own personal collection! 

INSTRUCTIONS: Each item will list an opening bid amount. Please enter your bid amount in the “Comments” section of the specific item you wish to bid on until the auction ends. Bid as often as you’d like! But please refrain from making comments in this auction album other than entering your actual Bid amount. 

DISCLOSURES: Your donation to Bunny World Foundation, a 501(c) 3 registered non-profit charity, is 100% Tax-deductible to the extent provided by law. You understand that you are not receiving any goods or services in exchange for your gift other than the winning bid item. 

PAYMENT: Payments for winning items (and shipping costs) may be made by cash/check (if local pickup) or online payment methods using Paypal account (Info@bunnyworldfoundation.org). Winning bidders will have their items shipped via USPS or other valid delivery carrier as soon as payment is received.  

DISCLAIMER: If you end up winning a specific item and do not claim your reward within 3 days of the Auction End Date, your item will be offered to the second highest bidder. Please check on Monday, December 19th at 10:00 AM (PST) to make sure to claim all your wins!

SHIPPING: Shipping costs are NOT included in the ‘Bid Amount’ and will be added after shipping calculations are determined for the winning bidder’s location.  All Los Angeles, CA winners will have the option to pick up their items locally at BWF offices given a set appointment has been made prior to pick up. Please allow at least a week for shipping within the US after the payment has been received.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING:  Yes, it’s available but the International Shipping Rates will apply. Please allow at least 10 – 14 days for shipping.

LOCAL PICK UP: If you’re local, you can pick the items you won in person by appointment any time after December 19.  Just call to schedule a time. However, some items are in the possession of the donors and will be shipped to winners directly.

Thanksgiving Message from Bunny World Foundation

Historically, Thanksgiving began as a tradition to give thanks for a good harvest and to rejoice together with the rest of the community after much hard work. What better time to celebrate our EIGHT and a half year voyage and give thanks to ALL who have contributed to our Mission.  

Especially, we thank each and every foster, volunteer, and supporter here who has contributed their time, energy and commitment to BWF. It takes a community to move mountains and without all of us doing our parts we couldn't even make a dent. Thank you for showing your support through thick and thin and especially during times of crisis, for we couldn't possibly overcome them if it weren't for YOU!

Now, as bunny loving families across America sit down to full dinner tables with their pet bunnies enjoying all the privileges of a family member, it's more important than ever to remember million others suffering in bunny mills, labs, backyard breeders, fur farms, and abattoirs. Most people would be unaware that most animal cruelty laws exempt farm animals and rabbits are not even covered under federal humane slaughter laws -- so their lives and deaths for our holiday celebration are unconscionably painful. This said, the road is still rocky with many challenges ahead, but continue we must and we thank you for your continued support in our efforts to make the world a better place for our much loved companions.

Holly Needs Your Help to See and Walk Again!

Do you remember this sweet girl who made an appearance on ABC this very May? If not, please scroll down to see her 2015/2016 history.

Holly is a 8.5 year old Santee Alley baby, who was once adopted. A year later she was returned back to BWF. She and her sister Sunny are STILL an ADOPTABLE DUO in need of PERMANENT HOME. Most Rexes are loving & tame, but these two were hand-raised by BWF as babies, so they are even more. See the photos when they were tiny babies. They were 10 day old orphans when confiscated by LAPD from the illegal animal vendors and rescued by BWF.

In 2015 Holly suffered a broken toe that led to two difficult surgeries and amputation. She was hospitalized for quite some time and had a long recovery time. When she finally came back things went back to normal and she’s been going strong for months. All of a sudden came another challenge – Corneal Ulcer in BOTH eyes followed by yet another challenge – her back legs giving up!

Holly’s been treated at Northwood Animal Hospital by Dr. Hsu as well as by two Ophthalmologists depending on their availability. Her primary eye doctor, however, is Dr. Michael Chang at VCA West LA Animal Hospital, her next appointment scheduled for Nov 7.

In the meantime Holly is being cared at the most wonderful foster home. Her mom Fleuretta who also happens to be a nurse has been an absolute blessing. From her daily (twice!) baths, physical therapy, three eye meds (3 – 4 times a day), multiple (pain & misc) meds, massages and loads of snuggle time – to say that Holly is being pampered is an understatement! However, she still can’t walk and BWF is still responsible for her extensive medical bills. Holly was last seen by Dr. Hsu on October 10 and these are the meds/supplements that she needs on consistent basis:

• Neo-Predef Powder
• Silver Sulfadiazine Cream 
• Chlorhex Duoxo 3% Shampoo 
• Metacam 
• Optixcare
• Sodium Chloride Ophthalmic Ointment 
• Ofloxacin Solution
• Turmeric
• Echinacea
• Colloidal Silver

Holly’s vet bill is now close to $2K and in order to continue the treatment, we need help. Also, we’d like to make her a wheel chair and thus are shopping around. If you know of any great source to refer us to, or if you’d like to sponsor the part or the whole ordeal, we would love to hear from you. Please e-mail us.
