ANIMALS ARE DYING AT SANTEE ALLEY! Please help us combat animal cruelty in the Los Angeles Fashion District.

WE TAKE BRUSHING VERY SERIOUSLY!

PLEASE do NOT take brushing lightly! If you don't get this amount of fur after a good brushing ordeal, you haven't done the deed! Plenty of bunnies die because of the blockage that causes GI Stacis and more often than so it's because of the lack of knowledge of HOW and HOW OFTEN to brush!

Tools are important. We recommend Hairbuster! http://store.binkybunny.com/hairbuster-p116.aspx

Yes, there are other factors that CAN affect the GI Stacis, but the lack of brushing or incorrect brushing is the key culprit. Here are the others: http://www.bio.miami.edu/hare/ileus.html
One of our members, Alta, said: “This picture is pretty representative of what the last shedding/combing session looked like. I also use a small plastic lice comb (looks like a Bic razor in shape) for the contour areas under her jaw. It takes time to do a proper grooming, you can't rush it even with a great tool like the HairBuster. Patience and a light, gentle touch are the key.”  She’s right! <3

Please contact BWF at info@bunnyworldfoundation.org for a referral to a Bunny Groomer Recommended by BWF.

The GROOMING SESSION should include:

***feet and groin hair "spot-trimmed", pads checked

***nails clipped and filed

***ears, teeth and scent glands cleaned

***soothing massage

Thank you and good luck with all that fur!!

BRUSHING QUIZ:

Here are the responses to our QUIZZ the other day.  Please note that THESE are OUR methods that we recommend.  No doubt others have had a success using different techniques and different tools, but THIS works for us, and THIS is what we want to share with you!

1) Guess how MANY bunnies were brushed (see the pile)? ONE & A HALF
2) How OFTEN do you brush your bunny? 6 – 8 WEEKS
3) How LONG do you brush your bunny? 1 – 2 HOURS (unless it's angora or lionhead or....)
4) What's the BEST TOOL out there to brush the bunny with? HAIRBUSTER
5) Why is brushing CRUCIAL to avoid GI Stacis? TO AVOID THE INSANE AMOUNTS OF FUR INGESTED. UNLIKE CATS, BUNNIES CANNOT REGURGITATE THE HAIR.
6) How often do bunnies DIE because they were neither brushed nor brushed properly? WE GET AT LEAST A COUPLE OF CALLS A WEEK FROM THE BUNNY LOVERS WHO HAVE DONE EVERYTHING ELSE BUT…. AND IT’S HEARTBREAKING!
7) How expensive is the VET treatment caused by negligent or non-existent brushing technique? IT CAN GO UP TO $2K IF SURGERY IS INVOLVED, OR IF A TUBE NEEDS TO BE INSERTED TO VACUM THE HAIR STUCK!
8) Do you have a professional bunny groomer that you trust? We ONLY trust a couple of groomers in LA.  If you’re interested, e-mail us and we will send you the reference. Many who claim expertise do not do a thorough job and can do MORE damage then good. If you’re to be SURE that the groomer is good, they will allow you to sit through the session and witness the miracle, or the lack thereof!

If you need help with brushing and if you're local (Los Angeles), please contact us at info@bunnyworldfoundation.org to schedule an apt. or come to our adoption event to attend our weekly brushing demo.
