BREEZY HASN'T HAD IT EASY!

On Sunday, Breezy had a large infected open wound on the ventral neck (more images available if you click this LINK (WARNING – GRAPHIC SURGERY SHOTS).  By Wednesday, we repaired the wound, and Breezy made it through the surgery.  Now, Breezy needs an EXPERIENCED FOSTER to help him heal, and BWF needs help with the VET BILL that hit the $20K ceiling again.

Before you hear Breezy's story, we want to let you know that we lost our Senior Facebook Volunteer last year amid Covid and have been trying to find a permanent replacement since then, hence the lack of presence on this platform.  However, please note that:

  • We're STILL ALL-VOLUNTEER, FOSTER-BASED rescue;
  • We're STILL taking in 50 – 70 bunnies a month;
  • We're STILL holding adoption events weekly and finding homes for 50+ bunnies a month;
  • We're STILL booking at least ten surgeries a week;
  • We're STILL scooping every medically alerted rabbit from LAAS, including nursing mothers, babies, orphans, seniors, broken legs, broken backs, abscesses caused by molars, and much more;
  • We're STILL taking a ton of strays;
  • Our Bunny Chateau (hotel) has been open and fully functioning throughout the Covid period.
  • Updates related to all our activities are regularly posted in our private group.
  • 1% of what we do is posted on Instagram.
  • Our vet bills fluctuate from $7K to $10K a month.
  • You can donate directly to our vet or via PayPal: http://www.bunnyworldfoundation.org/donate/

Thank you for your support!  As for BREEZY....

Sunday, April 18 –  BWF got an e-mail from the North Central Animal Shelter: "So we had a rabbit owner surrendered due to a citation. I wanted to reach out to see if you can help this guy? I have attached photos of his injuries (possible abscess), and we have started him on treatment. We are estimating him at around three years of age, intact, and 4.4 lbs."

BWF didn't waste a second!  Our fabulous volunteer (Summer B.) rushed to North Central within an hour and picked up Breezy and kept him overnight in her loving home.

Monday, April 19 – Summer dropped Breezy at our vet for an exam and potential surgery.

Doctor's Notes:PE: Lots of flea dirt present. Large open, infected wound ventral neck and small infected

area ventral thorax. Goopy eye discharge. Castration and wound debridement today. Debrided abscessed areas and placed drain in large neck abscess. Rxed Metacam and TMS. Will apply

hot compresses BID and remove drain in 2 days if looks okay.—GRR (photos of surgery attached)

Tuesday, April 20 – Breezy is still hospitalized.

Wednesday, April 21 – Breezy is ready to be discharged from the hospital.  He needs an experienced foster. Breezy is on TMS and Metacam. The hot packing involves getting a washcloth wet with hot (not scalding) water and holding in on the wounds for 5-10 minutes twice daily. He has a drain that will need to come out next week. Breezy should be on Metacam for about two weeks and on TMS for about a month. He needs Silvadene Cream as well to put on the wounds after hot packing. Dr. R

IF YOU'RE THAT PERSON WILLING TO HELP BREEZY HEAL, PLEASE E-MAIL US ASAP at info@bunnyworldfoundatio.org.  We have a transporter who will take him to you if you are approved.

Everyone else, if you can pitch a penny or two, please do so either via FB link or PayPal at http://www.bunnyworldfoundation.org/donate/.  For $100+ donations, you can contact us, and we'll provide the Vet info for direct payment.

Thank you for your support!
