ANOTHER HOSPITALIZED BROKEN LEGGED BUNNY – HONEY - NEEDS HELP!
Email Article | Tuesday, February 21, 2017
Two months ago, we rescued Buttons from East Valley Animal shelter (LAAS) who had a broken leg. Surgery was successful, and Buttons will be up for adoption soon.
Last week, however, the West Valley Animal Shelter (LAAS) called us about another pair of bunnies dumped to the shelter – Milk aka Emma & Honey. Both bunnies were having GI Stacis, and Honey’s leg was broken. The shelter couldn’t provide medical assistance, hence the call to BWF instead of euthanasia.
BWF volunteers mobilized quickly and rescued the pair! Our volunteer LIZ R. pulled Honey from the shelter and took him to Buttons’ foster, JEANINE S., in Anaheim. Jeanine then took Honey to our vet in Irvine for surgery & treatment.
Honey is STILL hospitalized. The vet tried to save the leg with splint/cast. If splint/cast fails, the leg will need to be amputated. Since Honey is very young, the splint will need to be changed every 2-3 weeks under general anesthesia to accommodate the bone growth.
WE NEED FOSTER WHO WILL TAKE ON BOTH HONEY & MILK UNTIL HONEY'S LEG HEALS. IF YOU CAN HELP, PLEASE E-MAIL US.
IN ADDITION, BWF needs $2,000 to cover the following: GI Stacis Treatment, Radiology, Splint, Surgery, Radiology – Recheck Films, and Medication. In case of amputation there will be an additional cost, but let’s hope the latter won’t be necessary. Either way, if you’re able to donate towards HONEY, please call our vet directly.
DIRECT DONATIONS TO THE VET ARE THE MOST APPRECIATED. If you can help now, please call Northwood Animal Hospital at (949) 559-1992 and make a TAX-DEDUCTIBLE donation towards Honey’s Medical bill. Unfortunately, they only accept $100+ donations and the deadline is NOW!
For a lesser amount, you can make an ON-LINE DONATION via PAYPAL at info@bunnyworldfoundation.org or at http://www.bunnyworldfoundation.org/donate/
Please remember, BWF is an ALL-VOLUNTEER, NON-PROFIT 501(c)3 animal welfare organization with 300+ volunteers/fosters working around the clock to save lives of babies and adults alike. Every week we take bunnies from the death row from LAAS and other situations. Our volunteers are funding the care of their own fosters, providing supplies, and often paying for the surgeries and medical bills. BWF has no paid staff, and with our limited resources we are doing our very best to help the little ones. But our VET BILLS are piling up and we need your help TODAY!
Finally, please CONSIDER DONATING MONTHLY even if it’s just a few dollars. http://www.bunnyworldfoundation.org/donate/
Thank you so much!
